the easiest way is to use vobsubplugin in vdud
look like this : VobSub("D:\dvd\movie\movie.idx")
save as avs

then load your avs in gordianknot or avi2dvd or diko
After 3-4 hours you will have your dvd movie with burnt in subs

The only way that I know of to "burn" a vobsub file (or any subtitle file) onto the movie is to do it during encoding. GK is probably the easiest way to go about doing this.

1. open the avi in GK
2. click save & encode
3. look for the subtitles menu and click select vobsub files
4. click save & encode...and wait.

Encoding an avi twice impacts significantly on the quality of the video. Are you sure you can't live with separate subtitle files?

I think ffmpegX can help you finish your work.
firstly,you can make use of ffmpegX to merge your movie and subs
and then,burn the merged videos to dvd.
