Again.... :( subtitles permanents on avi... guides

Hey, is there like a guide or a tutorial where I can find how to put subtitles on ani file, avi, mpg, or whatever, but permanent?? I used virtualdub but didnt manage to do that, so, I guess I need like a tutorial or a guide for that kind of permanent subtitles... I want to burn a DIVx movie onto a VCD, but with subtitles, so if you know something, please let me know...

I having been trying to do this all morning, and now I managed to put the permanent subtitles into a movie... But now I want to do something else, if that is possible... how can I manage to put the subtitles at the bottom of the screen, I mean, at the black part of the bottom of the screen if this is a widescreen movie?? Because I now managed to put the subtitles but they appear on the movie screen, and since in a widescreen movie you have the bottom black part, I wonder if there is a possibility to put them there?? Can you help me?
And another problem... I have a xvid avi file which runs perfectly, but when I re-encode it with the subtitles and the movie starts, it starts ok.. but then it like has some pauses and the audio and movie goes out of synch... but its not a problem with the sync part... its problem with the encoding... and I have tried to encode it on DiVx, and Xvid... but both have the same problems...
