Subtitles go out os synch

On some movies i have authored, the subs will go out of synch on the second half of the movie now these are usally 23.976 movies that i have converted to PAL (25fps) and they are from 2 avi files which are joined.
Ii have 2 *.srt files that i join first with subtitle workshop then change the frame rate also with subtitle workshop but somewhere in the process I lose 30 or so seconds and have to put a delay in the second srt file and re join to remedy this.

Im wondering if anyone has this problem or am i doing something wrong when joining or changing the frame rate of the subs

hi,

i am not changing the frame rate in the frame box, I am changing the time code by taking the first subtitle and the last subtilte, and I give them the correct timing with my movies.did that and it worked fine the first time with sub workshop.to be more precise, I took 3 points in the movie, begining , half, and end movie and reajust the time...

when reauthoring, I have noticed I still have to ad -0.7 seconds to all subtitles with dvd lab pro....

thanks for that technique john, only downside is having to go through the movie find a good point where you are sure what the characters are saying is correct (mostly Korean Japanese etc to english) and sometimes this can ruin your enjoyment of a movie.



Ps I just realised what I im doing wrong, for example if a film is split in 2 parts , part 1 is say 57:00mins exactly now if the last spoken sub takes place say 56:02 then there is going to be 48 second difference in the length of the subs and the length of the film, this only becomes apparent when you join 2 sub files as subtitle workshop will take the time of the last sub on the first *.srt file to do the calculations for the times of the second Sooooooo. If I add an extra line to the first srt file giving the end line the exact timecode of the first avi files ending then it should come up with the right values when joined (i hope)
