Subtitles only rip for first episode of DVD using vobsub.

I have been ripping my Anime DVD collection to MKV with vobsub subtitles. I have been using AutoGK because I can't quite get GK figured out with all the settings that need tweaking. AutoGK does a good job and I merge the resualting file into an MKV.

The issue is with the subtitles on some DVDs. Like my Macross set. The first episode has subtitles and is fine. Episode 2 and 3 on the same disk has missing subtitles.

I have tried using vobsub by hand over the ifo/vob that DVD Decrypt creates and I get a 0k sub file and a idx file that is missing all the timestamp: lines.
It works fine on the first episode of the disk.

I can't figure out what is going on.

try out vsrip - with vobsub i had also some problems on different dvds...

(vobsub ripper should be included in the gordian knot rip pack)

I have been messing around with vsrip, but I can't get it to do anything but make a .vob file. Does a guide exist for vsrip?

Strangly, no I don't. And my GK directory does not have sub folders for every progam like that.

I will download VSRip and see if that installs the wizard.

uhm, i think it was included in a gordian knot rip pack i downloaded some month ago...

I am assuming that all the eps were in one PGC.

If so you need to remove the time of the first episode from the start of the subs on the second encode. This is because vobsub keeps the original timing, so when you rip episode 2 the timecode for the first subtitle will be something like 24.32.000 rather than say 00.10.300.

Thanks for the help. I tried out vsrip. It does not make 0k sub files like vobsub, but the sub files it does make, do not show when played back. MPC sees them, just does not display them. The first episode works fine tho. :)

RanmaSaotome is right. They look to all be in PGC #2. Editing/splitting them is beyond my skill level right now, but it's something I will look into.

For some DVDs, I have to use SmartRipper on the chapters I want for Vobsub to generate proper idx/subs. DVD Decrypters works fine for everything else though.

I found a way around it. mkvmerge has an option to split the video based on time, so I used that to split up the finished video into each episode. It works great. Both audio tracks and the subtitles work correctly.
Guess you got to think outside the box.
