Dear friends;

I'm having problems to rip the subtitles of a italian DVD with SubRip. I don't know what's happening, but it freezes at 81% at preliminary reading (right after I select the .IFO or .VOB file and before starting to display any sub so I can build a character matrix).

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but at the languace field it says "00 - Italiano 0,???". I guess the "???" marks indicates that there's a problem with proper recognition of this stream, but I don't know how to get pass through it.

Many thx in advance for any sugestions, input or help on this problem!

Does the DVD VOBs playback smoothly? Did you try with VobSub and see if it is able to index and rip the subs? If VobSub too fails, then you can be sure that the error is in the source. If not, try ripping to idx/sub using VobSub Configure and then use that as input to SubRip and rip to srt. This may work.

Dear friends! Thanks to unskinnyboy tip, I've found out what the problem was. I've tried ripping the DVD to the PC and them realised that it had some kind of copy protection on it. Problem was solved by turning AnyDVD on.
