Ordinary detection doesn't work - and changing "Import As" to VFW also gives an error.
Just tried manually patching After Effects (AfterFX1.dll), but even after making it open AVS files as AVI, it still gives an "Unspecified AVI or DirectShow error". I guess the only way is to save the file out as HuffYUV, or buy link2 from videotools.net.

Sorry to ressurect dead topics but as an alternative you could also open your avs in tmpgenc, save it as a project and then run it through vfapi-converter.
Is link2 better somehow than this method? I've never tried link2 so I don't know if it's the holy grail of avi wrappers. Dave |

I just checked and VFAPI 1.05 (a newer all English version I found in Google) works fine in AEfx. I, too, wonder why Link2 is mentioned so much over a free program like VFAPI. I may well have done something wrong with Link2, but it sure didn't work (for me) nearly as good as VFAPI. I use VFAPI all the time to load huge mpeg files in Video Vegas with no problems.

VFAPI can read AVS files directly. It would not be near as good if it would not. You will need the readavs.dll
Purloined from vcdhelp Install the VFAPI codec by running vifpset.bat In Order to have VirtualDub and Avisynth scrips to be recognized by VFAPIconv you have to copy ReadAVS.dll to the VFAPI Reader dir. Open ReadAVS.reg with notepad and replace the typed path with the real path to the DLL. Save and close ReadAVS.reg. Then run ReadAVS.reg by doubleclicking on it. |
