Trying something more advanced than the regular backup
Greetings,
I am currently tryingt o make a backup of my x-files dvd. I was initially planning on using traditional DF4U and sceneaid but after leaving out the German audio track the overall bitrate was not very good. The DVD holds english, german and my language audio tracks, but I cannot leave out english since the deleted scenes track have only english language. At this point I was considering the following and would like to ask if there is a way of doing it: Could be possible to somehow relink the english audio track of the deleted scenes as my own language and then safely remove the remaining english track? That way during the deleted scenes I would keep the english audio and my own for the rest. Thanks in advance |

I think you are mistaken, you can use DVD Shrink without shrinking. I always use DVD Shrink but I seldom use it for shrinking unless the percentage is really small. It is very good at removing unwanted streams.

@BigCondor: I've tried that today, however, engilsh language is track 0, my own track 2, but the deleted scenes has track 0 linked to the 3 languages and the removal of the 0 track on the main chapters left the deleted scenes with no sound.
@D3s7: The calculated bitrate after the dvd9 to dvd5 calculations (needed to fit). Barely over 2600 which isnt quite spectacular IMHO |

2600 can be a bit low depending on the assets involved...
you could include some more of the VTS sets to be re-encoded or run the menus through numenu (depending on size) to up that value a bit. depending on "where" the deleted scenes are, you could always rebuild those... I've seen plenty of movies where the deleted scenes are referenced in a seperate VTS set and some are just different PGC's... It require a bit more manual work but is dueable |

well, there is only one VTS set with several PGCs, some of them being the deleted scenes and right now I am reencoding the whole disk (except for the menu). I've been playing a bit with pgcedit trying to swap the audio tracks with not much sucess so far as well although I have to admit my experience with pgcedit is close to null
