DivX subtitles and Kiss DP-500

Hi!
How can I extract subtitles from a dvd or convert gknot standard .sub/.idx files to get a .sub file suitable for the Kiss DP-500?
The vobsub routine from GKnot doesn't work because it's a binary format. Kiss hotline says that it has to be a .sub text file...

If you don't get answers here, you might find more knowledgeable people in the Hardware Players forum ... I don't have a Kiss player myself.
