Hi.

I work at a retail store, and I get asked this question at least 3 times a week, "How do I put my family vhs videos on a dvd?", or "How can I put video from my camcorder on a dvd?"

While I know the answer to this, I hate trying to explain the steps I take in making this happen.

1. Buy a capture card.
2. Use capture software like Virtual Dub to capture to avi.
3. Use Virtual Dub, or better yet Avisynth to frameserve.
4. Encode video with CCE, or TMPGEnc.
5. Author the DvD.
6. Burn.

After explaining my process, they look at me like I just told them how to build there own rocket ship. Most people don't want to know how to do it, they just want it done.

So, my question is, what one software can do all of these steps as easy as possible?

A Cheaper way is using NeroVision Xpress or Ulead DVD MovieFactory Disc Creator. They makes most of the processes you describe easily.

Why aren't you selling them standalone DVD recorders?

There are plenty of consumer-grade capture/edit/encode/author/burn tools, all for around US$100. Ulead's VideoStudio is another example.

Thanks for the replies.

We don't sell standalone DvD recorders, and I myself never used one or I would offer them that. Never the less, that is a good idea that I didn't think of. Simple and straight forward, which is what I'm looking for.

We don't carry any Ulead software, and to be honest I have never used it. It sounds like that also might be a good alternative.

Thanks for the help.
