Mediatek Proggy

Hi,

This is my effort at writing a prog similar in style to MTKTOOL tho as yet, not as powerful. It can connect to a Mediatek based dvd player and can (currently) only read registers and set debugging watchs on those registers. Flash backup is a planned function. It as far less bugs than MTKTOOL tho,. especially in the GUI. You would need the .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2 to run it and an appropriate JTAG interface made to your player. Here is screenshot of connection dialog:

*edit* removed attachment, cos its old version.

Regards,
Rick

Hi Achelon,

Welcome to the forum. And many thanks for providing us with your application...

We're always interested in tools such as this. Hopefully some our forum members will give it a try and report their findings.

Many thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have identified the following issues in that release, version 0.0.24.0. And there i was saying MTKTOOl was buggy lol:

- Intermitant "TargetInvocationException"
- Incorrect handling of addresses > 0xFF
- Frequent "System.FormatException"
- Addresses shown as base 10 numbers (should be Hex).

I hope to have some/all these problems fixed in next release (0.0.25.0) as well as some new features.

Regards,
Achelon

Hi,
Quick bugfix 0.0.25.0 release. Should also be downloadable now, put it on rapidshare instead of waiting for endless mod attachment approval!

*edit* removed link. see post below to download newer version.

Regards,
Achelon

I think I over-estimated the interest in this kind of software :P . I'm guessing no one has the interface (COM Port --> DVD Player). Ah well, no worries.

Achelon

Don't feel too disheartened Achelon...

Most people are very nervous when it comes to tinkering about with their players... But I'm sure you'll be approached by some enthusiast's soon!

I'm still waiting for Pioneer/MediaTek to provide support for the .MP4 container.

EDIT: I was unable to download your application. If it's not too big I will place it on my server, with some instructions (if you want to write them), if you like

Cheers

Hi SeeMoreDigital,

I have a new version completed and I am going to put it up on Rapidshare for you. Thanks for your hosting offer, that would be very nice of you, it's only 33kb zipped . I have written a quick readme.txt which is included in the zip file but I am not the best at those sort of things maybe its not very good.

Download MTKCOM 0.26

Achelon

RapidShare Problem

Hi Achelon,

Just about every time I attempt to download files from RapidShare I get greeted with this message: -

This forum allows members to attach various files formats including .ZIP files, to their posts... Could you do this please?

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry about Rapidshare, I didnt realise it's so unreliable. I suspect your connection is being proxied, and selfish users on same proxy as you are downloading lots of stuff from Rapidshare!

Here is prog as attachment.

Many thanks,
Achelon
