Upcoming Dolby Atmos competitor from google

Project caviar is a project from google to create a royalty-free and open source competitor to dolby atmos and dolby vision.

It is likely that tv manufacturers that want to include google cast or youtube will be required to support the audio codec and if the tv supports hdr then also support their hdr standard. Android devices including phones would likely have to support the audio codec too.
