Settings for slideshow

I'm creating videos out of slideshows.

Each video will be about 30 static images, created out of text and simple vector graphics, and run for 5mins.

What is the most efficient way to do this? Is it possible to get close to the file size of 30 still images (about 5MB with good jpeg compression, while a default After Effects export gives 50MB)?

The videos will need to be very compatible as they will be played on mobile devices.
