Here is a new test release:
http://mplayer.somestuff.org/beta/MP...ll-Package.zip

This is the first release with automated CPU detection in the installer code.
So please tell me: What is your CPU (use CPU-Z to get the info) and what build does the installer recommend.

Some more info in this thread:

Works here. I have a Core 2 and it selects the P4 build.

Also a small question: Does setting file associations still override old associations? If yes, could you please deselect it by default? A long time ago it set all types to open with mplayer and I had to set them back. Since then I always deselect this option but I fear to forget it one time.

Well, it will associate all Audio, Video and Playlist files with MPUI/SMPlayer, but it makes backup for every extension.
On uninstall or when you run the SetFileAssoc tool again, all associations are restored to the previous state.

Of course I can't guarantee anything! It's tested here on WinXP Pro x64 and it seemed to work. That's all I can say.
Also I'm not sure how well it works together with SMPlayer's internal "File Type" manager....

BTW: There is no way to set new file associations without "overwriting" the old ones

Isn't it possible to only set associations for types which don't have any already? I thought you might do this.

That would be possible indeed. But most media files will already be associated with WMPlayer, Winamp or alike.
I think most people that use MPlayer as their primary player want to open all media files in MPlayer, not only previously unassociated files.
Maybe I will add your suggestion as on option, but that would make my FileAssoc code even more ugly

BTW: You can already keep that option disabled during install and use SMPlayer's preferences to associate only specific file types...

Latest MPlayer build (SVN-r26924) crashes on attempt to play a web-stream
http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ercrashpf5.png

Appears to be a cache related problem, as "-nocache" prevents the crash...

[EDIT]

New test release, including latest MPlayer build:

The installer has been fixed to work properly in "silent" mode again:
http://mplayer.somestuff.org/beta/MP...ll-Package.zip

Use the "/S" option to run silent and use the "/NOPACK" option to skip packing the EXE files during install. Can be combined.

Tried this package for the first time. Currently I am a ZoomPlayer user.

With the installer under Vista, you won't get any buttons visible (Back/Next/Cancel etc) Tried both classic mode (my UI looks like Windows 2000) as well as Aero mode. Tried multiple Vista machines as well. On XP it is fine.

In addition, I want to use CoreCodec for playing H.264 streams. I can select it as a choice, but it never renders video. I have it selected with ZoomPlayer and it works no problem. Is there some guide to setting this up? In addition, how do I retain the setting? It always reverts back to the libavcodec - FFMpeg H264. Couldn't find anything in the INI files, and checked out the mplayer documentation (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en...importing.html)

Didn't see anything that stood out other than recompiling mplayer.exe.

Thanks!

MPlayer only uses it's own "built-in" decoders. It does not use DirectShow, so it's doesn't use any DirectShow filters (like CoreAVC Decoder) for decoding.
I know that there are patches to modify MPlayer to use CoreAVC Decoder, but the preferred way to use CoreAVC Decoder would be a DirectShow-based player.
One of MPlayer's policies is: Only use "proprietary" decoders if no "free" implementation is available yet...

If the buttons are missing, this is either a bug in NSIS or UMUI. There's nothing I can do to fix it, because I'm not a NSIS dev

Ahh thanks for the info. Makes sense about the directshow bit, and I can just "use the force" on the buttons which works fine

Full-Package 2008-06-01 Build 19

After using the subject file to update my MPlayer folder I note that some of the files were replaced by files having the same date but different (smaller) sizes. Is this correct? or should I be concerned.

Not all files change with every update. Updating only the "changed" files would save some bandwidth, indeed.
But currently the Autoupdater will simply download the latest installer package.
So all files will be reinstalled. The "changed" files are replaced with new versions, the "unchanged" files are overwritten with same version.

BTW: Files might have become a bit smaller, because I decided to let UPX run in a better/slower mode...

Hi^^

During the installation there's a minor misspelling

I shall choose a langage^^

It's just cosmetic... And yeah this is also in the latest package.
Or maybe this text can't be edited???

But now the most important thing: thanks for your good work^^

HF, Clobon

PS: Why doesn't this forum use spoiler tags? It's just nice for hiding pics

This is not a text I have written, it's a standard page and the text comes from the NSIS/UMUI language files
