MadVR - Why no SLI? And what spec is best for new card....
I've always wondered why MadVR is bad with SLI. I tried reading the super thread, but, c'mon.....it's so long.
ALso, when looking at buying a video card for MadVR, what is the best spec to match up? 3DMark? Texture rate? Other? |

I believe madVR is bad with SLI because of the way the memory on both cards needs to be identical so the data is moved twice. madVR likes memory bandwidth.
I have never seen a correlation between madVR and other benchmarks, faster in 3DMark is faster in madVR but I don't know about small differences. In my experience madVR tends to be most reliant on raw shader performance, memory bandwidth, and driver issues (like AMD being slow doing a DirectCompute -> GPU memory interop so the NNEDI3 performance is lower than expected). |
