So, still no fix in sight for the AMD Navi cards not sending the BT2020 flag.....

Hi everyone,
I'm the developer of the Kodi HDR Edition and I'm trying for quite sometime to fix the Ryzen bug that does not send the BT2020 flag. I have a RX 550 here that I use for testing and with this gpu everything is correct. The user _DMU_ has been of great help and tested several builds without any changes. The entire metadata is passed perfectly, Red X and Y, Blue X and Y, Green X and Y, White X and Y, min Master, max Master, max FALL, max CLL, the HDR flag is triggered and it stays at RGB and not RGB BT.2020. So I was looking at my TV EDID and it is a Sony X905E, corresponding model in the US is X900E I believe. Which is HDMI 2.0 level B. For everyone suffering with this problem, can you post a picture of the EDID capture of the colorimetry and if HDMI 2.0 support shows up in your EDID when capturing data with Custom Resolution Utility? Here's the colorimetry of my TV for reference. https://ibb.co/dGvtKk4 It shows 600mhz and HDMI 2.0 support. I want to exclude that this is not a display problem because on the software side, there's nothing much else I can do using AMD AGS API. |

Mine shows HDMI 2 support, and, same here, HDR is triggered, but the TV reports RGB Colour space, but when using the Win HDR Toggle, the set reports the colour space as BT2020.

Thanks for trying.
I've compiled the AGS Sample that will output some information gathered by the AMD driver, if you can give this exe a go: https://mega.nz/#!LUsk0KzK!hVcfg1ki4...6zmz9orPkajYIA Source code is here: https://github.com/GPUOpen-Libraries...ter/ags_sample As I was explaining in the Kodi HDR thread, I could add an automatic way to trigger the Windows HDR switch to ON when playback starts and off when it ends but it comes with a caveat. When we do this it will revert movie playback from 23hz to 60hz. The only other way around this for my fork is adding a shortcut that the user would have to press prior to starting the video to toggle this switch on, this would cause correct colors as BT.2020 would be sent. Still I would like to find the cause of this bug to avoid such solution. |

Does the program create a log for me to share? or an image? if so, let me know where - happy to assist.

I don’t understand why the frequency is switched? This code simply activates the Windows HDR mode, the frequency does not change in the desktop!

I tried with both the code you provided and the refactored code made by Jogal both resulted in 60hz being activated again. Tried with the code inside Kodi, tried with external .exe. Tried switching at the start of video playback, tried switching a few seconds after playback starts. Every scenario results in 23hz reverting to 60hz. This is true for both AMD and Nvidia. If I switch the refresh using Windows display settings and run the code it will mantain 23hz. I even tried triggering kodi's updateresolution call that would set 23hz again, nothing. And I can't activate it automatically prior to playback start because we have no means to know if the file played has HDR metadata or it's primaries are bt.2020 before playback starts. So the only solution I see to not break refresh rate switching is to turn it ON before the playback starts manually. Maybe some other dev could point a solution, I honestly have no idea how to overcome this limitation. EDIT: Opened another issue at the AMD AGS: https://github.com/GPUOpen-Libraries..._SDK/issues/35 Last edited by Fandangos; 29th January 2020 at 16:31. |

He is a far better dev than I am so I don't know if he faced another issue besides that one. And yes I've seen yours, it's very informative, sadly I don't think anyone looks at the ags github anymore. |

The drivers have issues that are a lot more serious than this bug with the HDR API.
