there is quite are few media players that can handle DRM content.
converting to another format is called transcoding which will degrade quality. FU4WM goes another route with no quality loss.

that implies that you don't have a license.
if there would be a way then it wouldn't be allowed to be discussed here, please read the rules.

I guess you should leave the decision what's best for somebody up to them don't you think WinAmp fanboy, uhm, sunny2006?
without having used WinAmp for removal of WM DRM, in your previous post you said that this can be archived via transcoding (i.e. 'convert', the worst possible method).
now you mention the term 'undrm' which implies the pure stripping of the protection from the file without reencoding. can this be done via WinAmp? and if yes you might as well provide a link to the patch.

It is my understanding that the source code is the same as the FreeMe! program from Beale Screamer released in '01, with a nice GUI wrapper. I'm sure MS has modified the APIs slightly, which viodentia has kept up with as well.

Viodentia mentions the process in this thread (and a little lower in the same thread he reitterates it):
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...871#post860871

You can find the FreeMe! source and technical description on CrypTome:

WMP 10.00.00.3646
IndivBox.key 10.00.00.3646

I used FairUse4WM(automate2.0) three days ago to remove the drm from 4 wmvs and it worked fine. DLed two more wmvs from the same site yesterday, played them on WMP to obtain licences but now FairUse says that the wmvs require a different private key! What gives?

also, load the URL into an embedded IE object...

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks!

Firstly a big Thank You to viodentia-You may not totally appreciate what true freedom or "digital rights" you have supplied to the people at large against the evil Corporation of Microsoft. Many Thanks.

Now down to business, I have used your program and it works with almost all my files except certain ones which look up the license and play. When I use the program it teels me "###.wmv does not appear to be licensed to you". This is not true because it has been obtained from a paid website. If I am doing something wrong can you or someone please enlighten me.

it didn't take developers very long—just a few hours after the announcement, actually—to compile a new working version of QTFairUse6, version 2.3, that strips songs purchased through iTunes 7 of their DRM
Thanks.

n00b question here - has M$FT issued a patch for 1.2 yet? I'm using fairuse4wm 1.2 which was working fine on DRM'd wma files until I tried an Amazon Unbox SG1 episode to see if it would work - "recover keys" then said 2 keys recovered, and I couldn't remove the DRM. Then I went back to try more wma files and it wouldn't unDRM those anymore. Recover keys then said 3 keys recovered, but I consistently get the error from FairUse4WM - "<filename> has an unexpected content key value."

what can I do to fix this? TIA.

FU4WM 1.2-fix works fine with Amazon Unbox - scroll back to find that version.

You need to delete or rename the blackbox-keys.txt file in your "My Documents" folder, and extract new keys.

As long as microsoft can't fix the hole or release a new patch for this tool, any media providers that use DRM technology can't prevent you to make this tool not working. They all using Microsoft DRM technology, not their player or software need to be patched but DRM itself.

If microsoft release a new patch soon, Hope it can be broke within a few hours and FairUse4WM v1.3 will in your hand.
