Recommended filter chain for old noisy grainy analogue TV casts
Hello,
could I get a recommended or most effective filter chain to handle old TV shows or movies that were in most cases digitalized from old master reels. The picture is quite coarse with much flaws and quite fuzzy, moreover often with moire effect. I also realized that these smudgy sources are much more bitrate demanding than new digital material. Appreciate all working suggestions. |

One observation to begin: if the source is extremely noisy whatever mpeg2 encoder you pick will not like it, so h264 would be a clever choice imo.
For denoisers: fft3d (or fft3dgpu), neat video are my favourites You will probably have to fix the hsv (hue, sat, cont, bright) and levels so Tweak and Levels are in the mix. Chain filters would be: Levels Tweak denoiser (fft3d or neat) crop AddBorders (for dvd output) resize (lanczos3 or spline36 resize) (for hd output) |
