The original Huffyuv codec by Ben Rudiak-Gould did not support YV12 natively. This had been added by the libavcodec project (ffdshow VfW Codec), along with a few more fixes for large resolutions.

Encountered a small issue...
I was trying to convert a QuickTime (MOV) video into a common MP4. The video stream was already h.264, the audio stream was PCM/uncompressed. So here is what I did: 1. Set video to Direct Stream Copy 2. Set audio to be encoded with AAC 3. Chose MP4 as output container For some reason the resulting video was .MOV again. Apart from that TEncoder did everything I wanted it to do: Copied the video and encoded the audio with AAC. I tried both, FFMPEG and MEncoder with the same result. If I set it to encode both streams, video AND audio, TEncoder gives me the container of my choice, but not with direct stream copy. |

Of course it is expectable that the selected target container will be used when the video stream is recoded.
But if the source video format is compatible with the target container, then it should be possible to change (re-multiplex to) the container format even without recoding the video stream. |

One small suggestion: I noticed that the option for adjusting the aspect ratio is greyed out if 'Direct Stream Copy' is chosen for the video stream. The setting of the aspect ratio is usually part of the container and not the encoder so this option should stay enabled.
Everything else seem to work fine (made only a few tests so far). |

I can't speak for all containers, but at least MP4 and MKV support PAR adjustment (without actually changing the video data). Isn't that what your aspect ratio option does?
Otherwise, which PAR would be used on DirectStreamCopy? Simply 1:1 or is it copied from the source video? Last edited by pintcat; 23rd September 2012 at 14:30. |
