@ woah!: Thuban gives a nice speed boost over Deneb (though it has a significant overclock, dunno how fast it is @ stock)
heres stock 1055T which runs at 2800mhz on all 6 cores %100. it clocks to 3300mhz when only 1/2/3 cores are needed...

For the price that's a pretty sweet chip.

Considering what I have into this rig I could have built 2 or 3 of those rigs and setup a mini encoding/crunching farm.
When I get a minute I wanna poke around for dual socket mobos for it...

Something else worth checking out is this ramdisk software.
http://www.superspeed.com/desktop/ramdisk.php

I have a 3gb ramdisk that I run the benchmark from. It helps with initial analysis and seems to make the first pass a little faster.

Currently I'm on a 32bit os ugggggg, but this app lets me use the non accessible ram to make a ramdisk out of

Time to dig that 486 out from the back of the garage, install win95, compile x264, and encode! Gonna rape you all... in the number of days it takes to finish the benchmark!
EDIT: Actually, that won't work , won't even have close to enough memory needed to pull off the HD encode.

In the meanwhile, Netbook!
