format problems

I backed up individual songs (with DVDFab) from a concert DVD to a VOB file then I renamed them mpg so they will play in Media Center 7. The original format is 2.35:1 and the new file plays at 16x9 fine in VLC and media player classic, but in Windows Media Player and MC7 it plays as 2.35:1 format. Media info lists the VOB file as being in 2.35:1 format on the DVD. When I play the DVD it plays in 16x9. Is there a way to fix this so the files will play 16x9 in MC7?
