Well...it's more difficult. I need to have more infos. What size/target bitrate would you like to have for your backup ?

thanks for the replies, and as for the aac encoding engine, i would like to have good quality, and size options are not mucho of a barrier, i would like to have good aac quality with properly audible voice and other effects! many say nd is best, but now some say winamp is better, i used to do 192 kbps mp3/vorbis encoding,so would 192 kbps lc aac would be good?it's a 192 kbps ac3 2-ch stream with a delay of 2 ms! pls give recommendations for converting 2-ch ac3 to stereo aac!one more thing, do i need to tick "Output Mode" in azid settings? i am very thankful for ur kind replies, and looking forward to more!
Thanks!

For high quality (high bitrate) always is better LC-AAC (Nero), but is senseless transcode (always lose quality) a 192 kbps ac3 2-ch to 192 kbps mp3/vorbis/aac. Keep your original ac3 soundtrack.
If you have problem about the dialog volume ("with properly audible voice and other effects") use a player with AC3/ffdshow filter and use Dynamic Range Compression, Mixer, Channels Volume, ...(these last for ac3 5.1)

For a 2-ch conversion "Output Mode" is ignored (if is not set to "Mono" of course)

In the AAC Presets, try ND-->LC--> VBR -- Internet. If you are ok with this quality keep your file otherwhise increase your preset (vbr_streaming or higher).

Bug?

1) Add files.
2) Disable "LFE to LR Channels" in advanced settings.
3) Tick the View or Edit BeSweet Command Line ("-L -3db" shouldn't be there).
4) Move your mouse cursor into the file list box.

"-L -3db" will appear in the command line box. It doesn't go away until you go back into advanced settings and hit ok.

I'm encoding to ogg using version 0.2.2.0 beta8.

Any suggestions?
Thats due to having "LFE to LR Channels" ticked in advanced options should really deselect itsself when creating 5.1

If your input file is ac3 and you choose a stereo output channels, it's completely normal. btw, I'll check this as soon as I'm back home.

Yep, I was using ac3 and outputting to stereo. But why is it like this? I'm wondering because this guide says to deactivate "LFE to LR Channels" for 2 channel input sources, and it gets bothersome when you're trying to batch encode.

Don't worry about this. With 2.0 channel input sources the "-L -3db" are ignored because don't exist LFE channel, the same for "Output Mode" <> "mono".

First of all, congratulations for the creation of belight, without it i wouldn;t be able to use the besweet.

I have a problem and i need your help.

I have an AC3 5.1ch (448 kbps, 23.976 fps) audio stream.

I want to do 2 things.

FIRST, I want to get an AC3 5.1ch (25.000 fps) audio stream
SECOND, I want also to have an AC3 2.1ch (25.000)

The problem is that belight let me do only one conversion ( ac3 to wav (16bit, stereo)), whenever i tried to get a ac3 , 5.1ch or 2.1ch, the belight crashed after the first pass reached 100%, a c++ window appears and says something about abnormal termination. Why is this happening??

I have the latest beta of besweet and belight beta8.

Please, someone respond.

Hi,

So I was trying to encode a wav into a speex file. Here's what I got.

Code:
Logging start : 10/05/05 , 19:11:14.

BeSweet.exe -core( -input E:\scislefajne\sf1a.wav -output E:\scislefajne\sf1a.spx -logfile E:\scislefajne\sf1a_1.log ) -ota( -hybridgain ) -dimzon( -dllname bse_Speex.dll --quality 1 )

[00:00:00:000] +------- BeSweet -----
[00:00:00:000] | Input : E:\scislefajne\sf1a.wav
[00:00:00:000] | Output: E:\scislefajne\sf1a.spx
[00:00:00:000] | Floating-Point Process: No
Error 84: error configuring bsn!
Quiting...
[00:00:00:000] Conversion Completed !

Logging ends : 10/05/05 , 19:11:14.
This is from BeLight beta 8, full package. I suppose this is more of a BeSweet problem, but still, what can I do about it?

speex plugin doesn't work with a sampling-rate > @32KHz. So, try to resample your file...

Don't exist a ac3 with 23.976 fps or 25 fps, a 48 KHz ac3 have 31.25 fps, a 44.1 KHz ac3 have 28.73 fps.
If you have a movie with 23.976 fps video you need change only the video to 25 fps, the soundtrack don't need be changed, is the same for NTSC or PAL system.

For a .avi movie you can use VirtualDub -> Video menu -> Frame Rate -> Frame rate conversion -> Convert to fps: 25.

If you use VirtualDub -> Video menu -> Frame Rate -> Source rate adjustament -> Change to 25 fps, the video play more quickly and the duration don't match with audio.
Only with this second, not recommended, method you need stretch the audio
I think BeSweet-Soundtouch only work with stereo audio, then you need convert the 5.1 ac3 to 6 mono wav, stretch each mono wav with a audio editor, make a mux file and reencode to ac3.
Remember ac3enc have problems with low output volume.

Another BeSweet-ac3enc problem: only work for stereo or 5.1. To do a 2.1 ac3 you need a commercial encoder or Sonic Foundry Soft Encode.
And I don't understand why you need a 2.1 ac3, all audio equipments can redirect low frequencies to subwoofer, you can use a 2.0 without great difference.

In fact, it works *only* with 32000/16000/8000 Hz... So, it could be a plugin restriction.
