Any good resources for learning this stuff?
I've used software players for a long time but only recently started trying to dig into the configurations and stuff like that, and using madVR and SVP etc. with PotPlayer, MPC, mpv etc... Previously it was basically VLC on defaults like it is for many newbies.
I'm wondering if there are any resources that go through the settings and what things like "DXVA copyback" are in terms of how the software works. Of course I can Google the terms but I don't feel like I have grasp on what the software is actually doing. I don't really get what LAV filters are for or why sometimes they're recommended, but other times they aren't, and if I'm using a direct alternative with madVR, for example. I have lots of questions like that. Or what exactly "resizing" means and does in PotPlayer, and if that's a setting that exists in other players. It's confusing. |

I would skip anything DirectShow but if you want it, here:

Scaling in mpv is a good place to start (there quite a few options + a decent manual).
