I have been using this little tool (just 295 KB) called Imageshackert for quite some time now and wanted to share this with you. This is an Imageshack uploader tool and is quite fast and a big timesaver.

Download link - http://buggyashell.nl/progs/imageshackert/download/ (software is in English).

Extract the imageshackert.exe from the zip file and put it in a folder (e.g: C:\Program Files\Imageshackert), now put a shortcut to this to your Desktop or Quick Launch bar (I have the shortcut on my QL bar).

Launch the app and set the options as below:

The app:

Browse and select the file, and click 'Host it':

The file gets hosted and the url also copied to clipboard, the only thing left to do is to paste it into the forum between the [IMG] tags! DONE!

Since we all do a lot of image hosting, I hope you find this as useful as I did.

Have you ever used the ImageShack QuickLoad tool >here<?

Once installed all you have to do is right-click on a picture and then select"ImageShack Quickload." to upload to ImageShack.

It requires MS Framework.NET to work though.

Just wondered if anyone has used it seems like a neat little tool and a breeze to use.

imageshack has lack listed a couple of my man forums, so thats kinda usless for some, but it hasn;t blacklisted doom9 yet so thats good

No, he wasn't. Please check the link MTM posted (free hosting: 1 GB with banner, and 512 MB without banner). Looks fine to me.

I can't say I've had any good experiences downloading files hosted via "rapidshare"...

@SMD, 62.254.0.34 is the IP address of an NTLWorld web proxy cache. In most international (or UK based) forums, if you search for the IP 62.254.0.* (hostname - nott-cache-??.server.ntli.net) via the vBulletin/phpBB AdminCP, you will see many users for the same IP address. Each of those IP belongs to an NTLWorld gateway, which sorts of hides your real IP address from the outer world (not sure if this is the primary purpose of WPCs though, haven't seen this issue anywhere in NTSC land till now) - good in a way in that it offers some amount of privacy protection, bad in a way in that if a website decides to ban/blacklist one of these IPs, many people gets affected.

This sort of thing is way over my head but your explanation has helped tremendously!

Do you know how/why "Premium Account" holders are not affected by the same limitation.... Not that I'm going to buy one!

Would it be worth our while if some of us Doom9 members pooled some money together and bought some additional web server space, so members could host "test files" of up to, say 10MB over a short period?

If you look at the RapidShare FAQ, they have given a lucid explanation for this:

Our system checks your IP-address in order to count the downloads. If you are getting this message and you really did not download anything, then you are using a proxy-server, which is used by other people as well. Even if you have no proxy-server set up in your configuration, there are providers who put transparent proxy-servers between you and the net. Even if you are completely sure that you have no proxy-server attached, you are wrong. Compare the IP-address of the error-message with your real internet-IP. Those will differ. We only see your Proxy-IP. But what can you do? You have to disable this proxy-server. If you are not able to disable the proxy-server, we can only suggest you to get a Premium-account. Premium-users are recognized by cookies, not IP. Unfortunately we cannot disable our IP-check, else people would download so much that we would have to close down this service.

Now how to get around this?

The easiest way is to use an anonymous proxy. A little bit of googling will give you plenty of proxy lists, but most of them are snail-slow, if not already defunct within a few hours of getting listed. I poked around a bit more for a less painless method and I found this page. If you read the thread, you can see a couple of workarounds suggested. Worth trying.

Us Doom9'ers buying webspace is not going to be of much use. Who will have access? Who controls the access? Also, you can't really go around and police the uploads, user A wants to upload a file of 10 MB, but alas no space left etc. Not to mention possible legal issues if the webspace thingy gets associated with Doom9, since this can also be interpreted as file-sharing (!!). If needed, there are many other alternatives to Rapidshare, so you are better off using them..namely YouSendIt.com + the others listed in the beginning of the thread.

Perhaps such files could be policed by the moderators... in much the same way small "bmp, doc, gif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, pdf, png, psd, txt and zip" attachments are done now.... However, unlike the afore mentioned files, each video or audio file would be deleted automatically after two or three days!

hey, i just completely forgot about this post. I do not work for the site, and i could care less if they shut down. Dang! I would have told y'all if I remembered. I was looking for another post and couldn't find it so i did a search of posts i made, and came across this. haha. They have like 1 gig of space and 5 gigs of bandwidth. They supposidly have a plan with unlimited space and unmetered bandwidth. My cousin has a site with that and it is doing good for him. I wish he would let me use it for anime but he doesn't want to take any chances with my stuff. So he says I got to get my own.
