so sum up some "common" TLAs&Co for chat:

TLA = three Letter Acronym
Ih8U = I hate You
Cu = See You
n8 = neight
LOL= laughing out loud
rofl= rolling on the floor laughing
2fast4u = too fast for You
IIRC = if I recall/remember correctly
IMHO = in my humble/honest opinion
AFAIK = as far as I know
wtf = what the f*ck/frell

ROFLMAO, I just submitted 31 (anime) acronyms to that site (acronymfinder), and got blocked temporarily because of too many submissions. LOL

Actually it's "nacht" (which means night), which can be either german or dutch.

Where's the list promised in the title of this thread?

Soulhunter provides a technically oriented list. But where's a list that contains abbreviations like:

LOL
PCT
CQR
IIRC

etc etc.

Regards.

Some of this stuff like "LOL" and "IIRC" you can find in this thread !!!

For all other stuff give Wikipedia and AcronymFinder a try...

EDIT: Some more links -> 1, 2, 3, 4 !!!

DRC = Dynamic Rate Change
i thought it was "dynamic range compression", a-la AC3? dynamic rate change sounds like a roundabout way of saying VBR to me.

[edit]

oh, and soul: why not add the one in your sig: CQM = Custom Quantisation Matrix

Dunno, this is what Google gives me...

- Dynamics Research Corporation
- Distribution Review Committee
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- Diagonal Reverse And Center
- Disability Rights Commission
- Defense Review Committee
- Dynamic Range Control
- Dynamic Rate Change
- Data Resource Center
- Design Rule Checking

EDIT:

Dynamic Range Control and Dynamic Range Compression is the same thing, no?

Ok, I did a small research !!!

Seems Dynamic Rate Change has more to do with data transmission...

As Dynamic Range Control fits more to A/V I gonna edit my list (and add some new stuff) !!!

ooohoh!!!

It is now that I note that the abbreviations have a real significance.
Thank you, for your contribution.

Ultimately, I do not even know if these abbreviations will be useful to me.
