I've been stumbling around this forum for over a month trying to figure out what's what, when I ran across the link in LoRd_MuldeR's sig for the h264 faq/guide.

That explained more to me about all the various settings and features than all of the posts I've read on the subject combined.

In fact, after reading the guide, many of those posts became much more informative for me.

I adjusted my procedures for getting my DVD collection to my hard drive (MagicDVD Ripper, Handbrake w/advanced settings) and was able to shrink the file size a decent amount, but more importantly, the movies are definitely better visually.
