Audio type in interleaving & audio overhead in GKnot

I encode my audios using abr. Now since I already know what the size of my audio file is gonna be, is it important to select the audio type in Interleaving & Audio Overhead section in Gordian Knot? Does my selection really affect the quality of the video? I've seen many guys cbr instead of the better methods like vbr or abr. I'd be really thankful if someone would gimme a detailed explanation.

I never used Gordian Knot.

But in general, if you choose an audio method that requires more space, and you target a fixed size, then there will be less bits available for the video, and quality can suffer.

The interleaving and overhead are not considered when determining the final file size. You can select either a bitrate that matches your audio or the existing file itself to let Gordian Knot calculate the proper video size that together with the audio will match your preselected file size.

In order to hit the size specified you should choose which types of audio you are using (mp3/ac3), in your case vbr mp3. If you are encoding xvid don't check the calculate overhead box, if you are encoding divx or x264 check the calculate overhead box (these are default).
