[MKVMerge] Fields Track name/Language/Default track flag/Forced track flag

Hello there.

I'm currently muxing my BD dumps into mkv containers along with mkvmerge GUI 4.0.0 and I've found these fields I don't know how to fill (in case it's necessary).

So, which will be the difference between these two set ups?

I guess defining the language, and forcing the tracks (video/audio/subtitles) would help in terms of compatibility with some players (in my case the video/audio/subtitle track are unique so maybe it's pretty useless), although I'll play all of them on a HTPC.

I'm asking this because I'm planning on leaving the PC this whole weekend remuxing all my BD dumps and I wouldn't like to repeat the whole process because I left out an option or something :P

Thanks in advance!

It probably depends on what software player you use - MPC-HC/Haali and VLC can handle perfectly a straight mux with nothing but dragging/dropping tracks and clicking "Start Muxing".

Thanks Inspector.Gadget.

I'm still considering it. I will use XMBC as frontend but I'll add an external player I have yet to decide. I'm between KMPlayer and MPC-HC, as another commercial players are out of my range (PowerDVD10, AMT 3...). Could I ask you which one do you use the most? I always appreciate your advices

I use MPC-HC. But I'm not using it for any sort of dedicated HTPC setup, so others will likely have more specific advice. Good luck with your project; as encryption gets ever more ridiculous and PowerDVD gets ever more bloated, I bet a lot of people will start doing what you're planning to do.

Thanks inspector, I'll have a look at what MPC-HC offers that KMPlayer doesn't.
