HDR10+ and nothing else?

I have a blueray that looks like it's HDR10+ and according to the metadata maybe nothing else? Trying to convert and reduce it. Don't use HDR10+ with my TVs so although I will inject it back into the video if the source has it, curious on this one. So....

If in MediaInfo I go to Advanced and then view the data I see like:

Code:
Inform                                   : English, 49.4 Mb/s, 3840*2160 (16:9), at 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS, HEVC (Main 10@L5.1@High), HDR10+
Format profile                           : Main 10@L5.1@High
HDR format : SMPTE ST 2094 App 4
HDR format                               : SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile A compatible
HDR_Format_Commercial                    : HDR10+
HDR_Format_Version                       : 1
HDR_Format_Compatibility                 : HDR10+ Profile A
So no reference to HDR10 itself.

Looking at it thru ffprobe see:

Code:

                    "white_point_y": "16450/50000",

                    "max_luminance": "10000000/10000"
                },
                {
                    "side_data_type": "Content light level metadata",
                    "max_content": 0,
                    "max_average": 0
                },
So looks like there is HDR10 metadata.

So am I supposed to convert this with HDR10 and inject the HDR10+ info or does this not actually have HDR10? As mentioned I have had footage with HDR10, DV and HDR10+ and they all showed within Mediainfo.

So in your opinion HDR10+ metadata is not decoded and this is just fine?? LOL. That is not like profile 5 of DOVI, but that one is decoded for a longest time with just IPTPQc2 to just 10 bit PQ (even though it needs 12 bit PQ). That does not apply metadata

It's still HDR-10; 0 for MaxCLL and Max FALL mean "undefined" which is a fully supported option. In practice most player ignore MaxCLL and I don't know of any consumer devices that do anything with MaxFALL. They're just not useful in practice.

By definition, any HDR10+ file is also backward-compatible HDR-10.

Yeah, it's still HDR10. Any HDR10+ file is backward-compatible with HDR10. You can convert and reduce it as HDR10, then inject the HDR10+ metadata back in.

Yeah, but that's not a Dolby Vision file, not HDR10+.

There's no theoretical reason why HDR10+ metadata wouldn't work color spaces outside of PQ 2020, but I wouldn't call those HDR10+ files any more than I'd call one without metadata a HDR-10 file.
