I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad to see that the new hardware seems to be coping well with the new number of users.
There are currently 10483 users and the forum is loading as fast as ever. I know it got upgraded "for the wrong reasons" (i.e bots) but this hardware upgrade definitely helped regular users too.
Stats look fine too.

Not sure what the software stack is like, but running some caching software like Varnish/Vinyl can help with managing load.
