There are a lot. I use iina and mpv. Mpv is the well known program with endless customization options but without a decent GUI. Iina is a MacOS frontend with many settings regarding the interface.
I use mpv as my default audio and video player since it's minimalist. When I want to browse in a long list of files I choose iina since it has a GUI playlist and can choose with a mouse. Movist, optimus player, omniplayer, jriver which is multiplatform are some other options. |

I’ve been using Elmedia on my Mac for a while now. ItÂ’s a nice choice if you want something that just works without a ton of fuss. I really like the ability to play stuff with embedded subtitles and different audio tracks pretty easily — doesnÂ’t feel like a headache like with some other players that I tried. It also lets you adjust playback speed on the fly, which can be handy. Airplay as well, a great feature.
Not the only option out there, but for just watching stuff without tinkering, itÂ’s been solid for me. |
