HQ deinterlacer recommendations/comparisons?
Hi. I've been doing some research on deinterlacing and found myself unable to understand the difference between the filters labeled as high quality (MVBob, MCBob, etc.). I mean there certainly is some difference, but it's hard for me to compare because I'm not well-familiar with deinterlacing artifacts so I can't really tell which of them restores better.
So the questions are: 1) how do the high quality full-framerate (i.e., no framerate conversion) deinterlacers compare to each other? What's the main difference between them? 2) Which would be the one recommended to use if processing speed was completely disregarded (e.g., max possible quality)? 3) Is there a chance for a quick comparison table like the one found in this thread? Thank you. |

Alright, thank you.
I tried to locate the most recent version of TGMC, but the only version I managed to find online is "something point something, beta-2" (sic). The homepage is down, too — maybe it's worth noting that the AviSynth wiki has a number of broken links like that. I wouldn't trust myself with something I have no methodology for, and I expect neither would you. |

Example: TempGaussMC_beta2, directly linked from my 'not-a-homepage'. ![]()

I see, thank you.
I've been encoding video since about 2004, but I haven't really had any first-hand experience with interlaced content (I mainly captured or transcoded progressive content until recently). I will do some testing and see if I can come up with anything of public use. |

Hello, http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/TempGaussMC "There seems to be a TempGaussMC_beta1u MVtools2 version, as at 3 Nov 2009, in common use even by Didee, possibly the latest version at http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...12#post1340412 - tempgaussmc_beta1u seems to allow nnedi2 whereas the main ones pointed to in this wiki don't. "
I wonder if thsi is "right" and which version is Didee's favourite. |
