Question about MeGUI halving the horizontal resolution

I've been trying to encode x264 videos on my laptop for the past few days but every video I tried to encode outputted exactly half the horizontal resolution it should be. For example, a 640x480 video would become 320x480.

It's such a strange problem, but a problem nonetheless. I've never had this happen before on my desktop, which has older parts than my new laptop just before anybody asks. Has this happened to anybody else?
