Image darkens when video in fullscreen

Hi,

Title says it all.

Whether using MPC-HC or VLC, the image darkens when I put the video in fullscreen. It brightens again if I move the mouse or get out of fullscreen.

I tried deactivating hardware acceleration (at least in MPC-HC), but it didn't change anything. Tried rebooting etc, nothing either.

I am on a desktop, Win 10 Pro 64 bits, and my CG is a Geforce 770 with latest drivers. I just noticed this behavior today but it might have been going on a while.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for your help.

It's a Samsung TV (UE46F6400). It is itself configured in Game Mode, Dynamic Contrast is off, and other filters are (should be) off as well.

It does only seem to happen on dark scenes, ie :

- on bright or "normal" scenes, I'm not noticing any particular behavior / difference between fullscreen vs (non fullscreen or moving the mouse when in fullscreen)
- on dark scenes, the whole screen darkens suddenly when in fullscreen vs (non fullscreen or moving the mouse when in fullscreen).

This sounds like an edge lit dimming backlight. That TV has "Dimming Technology: Micro Dimming".

There is no dynamic backlight setting available (or none that is on at least). The backlight setting is at 10/20. All Eco settings are off.

Should I turn off all backlight always and readjust Brightness ?
