How easy is it to fit a 6.5GB Football game on single DVD?

I've got a football game that I've cut all the commercials and fluff out of and it's about 6.35 GB in size. What's the easiest way to fit it onto a single DVD? Is it worth it?

Thanks,

Tim

What format is the video? If avi it will need to be encoded to mpeg2 format. If already in mpg you can reduce the size with ReJig with minimum loss of quality. What format is the audio? If in wav format you could realize a hugh size reduction by encoding to mp2 or ac3. Bottom line: need more input.

The video is off of one of my ReplayTVs, medium quality, so basically, it is 4000 (avg) kbps VBR mpeg-2 with audio of 48 kHz @ 226 kbps, MPEG-1 layer II.

I'm looking into DVD Shrink, but it appears that it requires an authored fileset. How does ReJig compare to that?

I'm not yet sure what tools support a fileset larger than 4.7 GB. So far I have Ulead Movie Factory 2, TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5, and Nero 5.5.10.something (supports my NEC ND-1300A burner).

Perhaps this might help.

Go ahead and use TMPGEnc Dvd Author 1.5 to create your VOBs from your MPEG-2 file(s) in the DVD Output Folder (even if their total size is larger than 4.7 GB ... Author will warn you the size is too big to fit onto a single DVD, but will allow you to proceed).

Then use either DVD Shrink or DVD2One to shrink the TMPG-produced VOBs down to size to fit onto a single DVD.

Next, remove the VOBs originally created by TMPGEnc Author in the DVD Output Folder and replace them with the resized VOBs created with Shrink/DVD2One.

Lastly, use the TMPG DVD Writing Tool to author your DVD.

You could use rejig to demux the video and then resize to you required size. The use dvdauthor to create a vobset. robguy's method also works well. I have used it also prior to discovery of rejig. Just personal preference.

I started by using ReJig so I could see how much quality I lost in the mpeg before taking the time to author. It took me a couple times to get the final size that maximized the 4,700,000,000 Byte capacity of the DVD, but it was pretty simple.

Next, I wanted to try the DVD Shrink method to compare, but after authoring the fileset in TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5, I can't open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5. I get an error that says:

Quote:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
The error is:

Cannot decrypt VOBS

The reason is: Unknown
The only comments I could find related to this error is that it has something to do with a copy protection flag, but TDA doesn't seem to have any options that would pertain to a flag like that. Can someone please advise? Should I try a different authoring package (I also have Ulead MF2)?

Thanks,

Tim

A BD-R DL or BD+R-DL is big enough for ~8.5g
