So in order to determine say, the 4CC of an Mpeg4 .AVI, we have to click on the download button?

Cheers

It's only if you want to download the codec required by the movie file

videotoolbox is slightly different but still close to videotools. [the other avisynth developers ] Perhaps videomechanic to avoid possible confusion.

Actually it could be an improvement. if you have a tool box you have to do it yourself. Not something some people want. If you have a mechanic it sounds more spiffy and automated. Plus a lite search or two has not turned up anything real similar.

Nah.. I still think you should call it 'Media Stream Analyser' or 'MSA' for short?

Cheers

Unfortunately I think using the word 'mechanic' might suggest that your application can perform functions to a media stream other than providing information. In much the same way using the word(s) 'toolbox' does.... sorry Neo!

Have you had any more thoughts about adding 'elementary' stream reading. I like the fact that your tool can provide info about audio and video streams within say, an .mpg container but as yet it can provide info about the elementary (.m1v or .m2v) streams!

Just a thought... Cheers

Personally I don't see it being an issue at all.

did i already ask for support for this fucking damn .mp4 container (mp4 is license free btw), with automatic readout of the bitstream description to tell what codec was used to create it (would be nice for avi too btw)?

That would be most cool of you.

All us Mpeg4/MP4 encoders really need this, since no such file reader exists. Sure we have MP4UI but it does not give much detailed info about the streams!

Cheers
