is anyone else finding MPC-BE taking ages to start playing movie, even on a fresh install, its even worse when playing a movie over and RDP connection, VLC, MPC-HC and Windows 10 movies and TV all start the movie in a timely fashion where MPC can sometimes take 30 seconds to start the movie on RDP, 10-20 locally on my PC.

Once i've played it one locally however it tend to then by much quicker, however RDP it takes ages every time.

I've ask this before and didnt get a really satisfactory answers, or nothing suggested made any difference, all settings are default.

anyone any ideas before i ditch BE?

Everything is fine here on three computers, one with i7 and Intel HD, one with i7 4930k with AMD Radeon and one with an Nvidia card. Let's find out whats wrong:
1.) What OS do you use? What version? Just like 1709 or 1803 of Windows 10.
2.) What exact version of MPC-BE do you use? latest Nightly, latest beta, latest stable, ...
3.) Do you use any external stuff like LAV Filters and madvr, ... What version of them?
4.) Do you use latest driver of your GPU?
5.) Do you have another computer for testing?
6.) Did you try to reboot the computer and only start MPC-BE, no other program. Does it then also take too much time to load files?

Thanks for your response.

win 10 creators

tried latest and several older versions, had this problem for months if not longer

i'm using stock settings, tried using external filters makes no difference

has been happening for ages, through various different GPU drivers versions.

Tried all sorts, fresh boot only loading BE has same issues, nothing seems to resolve this.

I'm not really sure where to start to be honest, a rebuild is out of the question though, it would take me days to do that.

Was hoping someone would know what this was with it just being BE and no other player,

Hi,
I have further qestions, then maybe I, but for sure others can help:
1.) Windows 10 1703 and 1709 both are creators, which one?
2.) What exact GPU chip?
3.) What external filters did you try? precise like LAV Filters 0.71.0-35
4.) Not a complete rebuild needed, only another computer to test with, maybe at a friend, sister, brother, ... No high end needed.
5.) Be sure to distinguish between directshow based players like MPC-BE and players like VLC media player, I don't know how these are colled, but these are not directshow based ;-), they use their own built in codecs and can't load external ones.

Hi, 1709, ATI RX 460. I tried all four LAV filters, aud/vid/spliters. Having had this for a long time i've also gone through several different LAV filter versions, non have made any difference.

i'll have a look on my audio DAW machine, see if I can reproduce it there.

cheers

@v0lt:
Are the changes I made in r3647 visible in GUI somewhere already to check the length of string so it fits?
I am updating translation file based on r3681, but I think Surround level is missing in translation file r3681, I only can find Center level.

@Klaus1189
I did not translate "Surround level", because it was not done and there is no clarity for what it might be needed.

Play->Filters->MPC Audio Renderer->Properties->Status

German translation was updated in r3386, 3687.

hi,

ive used mpc-be on my desktop pc for years but on vacation i tried to play some 720p hevc videos with it on my netbook and they stuttered (which is ok) and audio got delayed (which is not). its not a genius:
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat...20E2-1800.html

i also tried almost a dozen players, still mpc was the best so i thought if i had to play around with settings i rather do it with the player i know.
could you please recommend me some (resource-wise) minimal settings for mpc-be? or should i give it up?

thank you,
g

I think you'll find you're overtaxing your CPU, check task manager and see. If so, it's time for an upgrade or just avoid HEVC.

Not gonna happen enough to make a difference. Avoid or upgrade are your only real two options.

Do you use 32-bit or 64-bit player? IIRC 64-bit is noticeably faster in HEVC decoding.

I think it is worth to try external lav filters, maybe these require less decoding power, but don't expect miracles since AMD E2-1800 is six year old low end.

You may try the 32-bit Strongene Lentoid decoder, OR a 64-bit edition of MPlayer (without a fancy GUI, because GUIs are resource hogs). If even then you don't get smooth playback of 720p HEVC on your netbook, then give up and get a better machine.

Hi, I have noticed for some time a problem of playing my blu ray/uhd 1: 1 files, in the sense that if I go back and forth with a film the image freezes and jumps, while the audio continues to go normally, so I'm forced to stop the film and play it, but this does not happen with mkv....some solution?
