Which custom quantization matrices would you recommend for high quality (2CD) backup?
I'd like to try out some custom quantization matrices for Xvid, since I always used the MPEG matrix.
Which ones would you recommend for high quality DVD backups (1200-1600 kbps)? During the XviD era, which matrices do you think were most popular for 2CD backups? |

I found three custom matrices that I really like: EQM V3LR, heini_mr, and Jawor's 2CD matrix.
I now only need some advice on which Xvid options work best with these matrices. I have set the following (2-pass encoding): VHQ=4, Trellis On, B-frames: 2, 1.50, 1, Min IPB: 2, Max IPB: 31, and the quality is great. What about chroma optimizer, VHQ for B-frames, and adaptive quantization (lumi\variance masking)? Do you think these options should be enabled or do I leave them off? |
