Butthat is wrong. I cannot see any subtitles flagged as forced. Only MakeMkv indicates there are forced subtitles when it is to merge an .mkv file out of .m2ts streams. I can watch them only when they are merged in an .mkv container. They are not displayed when they are in the Blu-ray stream. But, eac3to can extract a .sup file from the .mkv container and this .sup file contains the forced subtitles only, although the .mkv has been merged with the the .sup file extracted from the .m2ts streams. And this eac3to .sup file can be muxed/demuxed, using tsMuxeR and the forced subtitles displayed from the tsMuxeR generated .ts/.m2ts files. The same .sup file cannot be process by BDsup2sub nor by Subtitle Edit. p.s. When I'm talking forced subtitles it means subtitles that behave as forced. I haven't seen them in any subtitles editing or ripping software. I have watched them when displayed by a player and they behave just as forced. Last edited by SpasV; 17th April 2014 at 16:50. It's not wrong. It simply means there are no items flagged as forced, similar to #3 of my initial post.
This is wrong. MakeMKV does not indicate anything, it simply offers you to extract only forced subs from ANY sub stream whether they have forced subs or not. You can only find that out after ripping the tracks and not upon load.

I've been playing around with subtitles for a while now and trying to figure out the best way to deal with them. What are peoples thoughts about using handbrake and encoding at CQ18 and burning them directly into the video. Is there any downside? I say CQ18, but does anyone else have a value they think better to use? Only way to burn or hardcode is to re-write the video, yes?
Thanks |

Yes, and since this thread is about problems ripping the video you should take your encoding quality question to the Handbrake forums.
