Dolby Atmos and stream discontinuity errors when using EDL files

I use EDL files to mute objectionable content when I'm watching movies with my kids. I'm using kodi v21 on an Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2017). Kodi reads the times indicated on the EDL file and mutes the segments indicated. This works wonderfully for every audio codec except Dolby TrueHD (with and without Atmos data). The mute starts on time, but it takes several seconds after the indicated time to unmute. Often times, the mute triggers on and off until it finally decides to fully unmute. When I examine my kodi logs, I see errors like this:

****
warning <general>: CPackerMAT::PackTrueHD: detected a stream discontinuity -> output timing expected: 53440, found: 58368
****

I can't find much info about this, but what I have been able to find seems to suggest that the player is expecting to find a different timing value than expected in the TrueHD stream when it tries to unmute, and it is struggling to resync up.

I don't know why this only occurs with TrueHD streams, or why it occurs at all as I assume that kodi is simply sending a mute or unmute signal to the player. I'm not seeking or interrupting the streams. But alas, this is the situation.

What I'm really wondering is, is there anything I can do to my files to mitigate this issue? It really becomes distracting, but I don't want to sacrifice quality and use the lossy 5.1 core. Is there something I can do in ffmpeg that would make the timing data more resilient like with other codecs?

I am using pure lossless MKV remuxes from my personal disk collection.

I have also posted in the kodi forums and placed a bug report, but I haven't gotten any responses. Doom9 has always been helpful to me in the past and I'm hoping there are folks here who know the codecs and/or software better than me that might be able to provide some insights.

**Admin, feel free to relocate if I posted this in the wrong forum.
