DGDecNV for linux

Happy to report that I have DGDecodeNV working natively under linux. I'll make a basic CLI indexer and then give it to y'all for testing. No DRM or licensing of course. Initially it supports Vapoursynth but I will consider supporting Avisynth(+).

Thank you. Today I successfully indexed and served an AVC elementary stream. Gotta test the other video formats and the containers, then I'll get a test version out for y'all. It's looking good so far.

Hello videoh, and thank you very much for making a linux version of DGDecNV available.

I noticed that the latest linux version is 239, and it was last updated back in 2021: https://www.rationalqm.us/dgdecnv/binaries/

Meanwhile the windows version appears to be on 249, and it was last updated just a few days ago on 2023-07-25.

Is there any word on when the corresponding linux version will get updated?

Hi Adub

Here is a message for you from DG-Tools(Rocky)

If you have a d9 account, feel free to answer Adub's post letting him know that upgrade work has begun. If you do so, please also ask him to say what features he's specifically looking for.

Hello hubblec4, thanks for your response here!

I'm primarily interested in bug fixes, which it seemed like the Windows version was getting while the Linux version wasn't, which is my original motivation for asking.

In terms of features, my main ask would be a more complete commandline, even just being able to type
Code:
dgindexnv -help
to see the available options would be a nice improvement.

I only ever use the Linux version, so I'm not aware of any major features that the Windows version might have over the Linux version. Having the commandline interface is just fine for my needs, and works well with projects like https://github.com/Irrational-Encodi...rdry/vs-source

---
As an aside, it looks like an update was just posted today???

https://www.rationalqm.us/dgdecnv/binaries/

The version number hasn't changed, but the file date and sha256sum changed, so I'm not sure what that's about.

Edit: I see that Sherman from the DG forums just posted about the update today, along with plans for other future updates: https://rationalqm.us/board/viewtopi...p=18045#p18045

Version numbers are rarely updated for dgdecnv, my guess is that this is a why remnant of when you had to donate to get access to dgdecnv.

Can someone say something about use cases for dgindexnv specifically on linux?

I have been out of the field for some years. I registered here decades ago literally. These days I am mostly using ffmpeg + mpv on linux, and rarely anything else. I still miss avisynth - never really got to work with it again after transitioning to linux, and now I suddenly find myself in need of video editors (I finally got around to working on family videos that are as old as 1970s; tons of things I have to do with these and I have no idea what to use right now).
