Get the OpenSSL libs from the link in this post and place them in the folders where the ChapterEditor is located. Keep in mind that you need the 32bit version of the libs, even if your OS is 64bit, since chapterEditor.exe is a 32bit binary. |

update rev 1.36
chapterEditor(cE) rev1.36 is available.
Windows Linux A smaller update with a few repairs and an important fix for the Matroska Tags. Code:
Change chapterEditor added & fixed * improved # changed % rev1.36 2023-02-27 // chapterEditor * German translation // BD2mkv * Missing track designation for "E-AC3 Surround Secondary Audio" if eac3to is the processing tool // DVD2mkv * Subtitle without defined language - Editing these tracks is now possible - the language code "en" is used as an internal standard language code - "und" is used as a language code for MKVToolnix (changeable at any time) // Matroska Tags * TargetType selection was wrong if TargetTypeValue should not be used - The default value "50" is used automatically for TargetTypeValue (specified by the Matroska specification) - TargetType selection is now limited to the corresponding valid values Last edited by hubblec4; 27th February 2023 at 13:40. |

Hello @hubblec4,
I can't upload a chapter to the database. It just say "API error" in an alert popup. I still can search and downloads existing chapters in the BDD though. EDIT: my Movie playing time format was incorrect but the error wasn't related to the usual format error. I tried to input "1:48:50" instead of "01:48:50.000000000". Maybe you can add this case to Date format error Last edited by PyragriC; 28th March 2023 at 15:06. Reason: Resolution |

The API needs the HH:MM:SS.MS/NS format. It should be simple to fix that. |

Hi DocShaker
and welcome to Doom9. Indeed, I had played with that thought but it seems not so easy. Currently I have no time for coding so I can not say when I can start, but I add it to my TODO list. A next version of cE is almost ready and then can l investigate in this request. If you want you could help me with infos, because I have not so much experience with Dark Mode. |

update rev 1.37
chapterEditor(cE) rev1.37 is available.
Windows Linux Another update with improvements and another important fix for the Matroska Tags. The improvements are mainly for the Matroska menu (Matroska Linking). For my first tests back then, I always cut off a small piece from an episode for a main playback file (up to the first video keyframe). This has the advantage that I can also play this file without the linked content. You don't have any content, but the chapter structure is displayed in the media player. That made experimenting easier. But you don't need all the tracks, it's enough if there are only linked chapters in the main playback file. Furthermore, I had provided all invisible chapters with chapter names for testing the nested chapter structure. However, some media players also show hidden chapters, which then looks very confusing. A good Matroska player will not display chapter names if the ChapterFlagHidden element is active. However, this additional chapter naming does not bring any advantage and only inflates the chapters unnecessarily. Most media players replace empty chapter names with a default name, but without taking nesting into account. Normally, a "+" is placed in front of a chapter name for each level, but this is missing from the default name. As a result, the chapter structure in the media player no longer looks good. So I always padded empty chapter names with the chapter number, but for a Top-Level chapter structure this can be quite useful and is now configurable. You can now also not use any chapter names, which makes the main playback file very small. For a better overview of which chapter belongs to which file in a Top-Level chapter structure, there is now the option of using the file name as a prefix. Code:
Change chapterEditor added & fixed * improved # changed % rev1.37 2023-04-16 // chapterEditor & Settings button in the sidebar - a left click opens the settings of the active editor - a right click always opens the main settings % removed setting buttons from Chapter editors and Matroska Tags // Chapter Database * Upload and Edit: Movie playing time - all time formats that cE masters are now possible as input // Matroska Menu (settings) & Main Playback File: "The MKV file contains only Linked-Chapters" - there are no tracks in the file - since only Chapters and Tags are used, the file becomes very small - the file can only be played if the linked content is in the same folder & "No chapter names" - without chapter names, the main playback file will be even smaller & "Fill in empty chapter names" - only the chapter number is used - this is used to ensure that a media player does not generate automatic chapter names & "Use filename as chapter name prefix" - only applicable for the Top-Level chapter structure - a chapter name must be present & "Verbose chapter naming" - Not recommended as it is more for development purposes - only applicable for the nested chapter structure - invisible chapters also get a chapter name % playing the main playback file is now on the play button, by right-clicking % manually creating a main playback file is unnecessary and no longer allowed when only linking chapters are used // Matroska Tags * Removed the value "PART" from the list of valid values when TargetTypeVaule = 20 (bug in Matroska specification) |

Issue on reading simple chapter lists in txt-files.
Hi hubblec4,
I'm having the problem on reading timecode lists in ordinary txt-files (see my screenshot). Chapter Editor imports the list, but zeros the frame numbers and takes it as a chapter name. Makes no sense. Can you fix that soon? best Jim Last edited by Jim_Pansen; 12th May 2023 at 09:22. |
