Making video look "Animated" or like a cartoon

Please check out some of the work I've done in using VirtualDub to make video look like hand drawn animation. I did this WITHOUT using the MSU cartoonizer filter. There is nothing wrong with the MSU filter's results, it's just that this way gives you more control and can be much faster, depending on your method.

And here is a sample I did of me throwing my 3 year old on our Chilsac:

Please let me know what you guys think. The tutorials show the general idea of how to do this. It is really more of a principle and a technique rather than an exact science.

Here is how it's done.
1. Make the video look like it's been hand drawn, as far as the outlines go.

2. Make the video look like it's been painted in.

3. Use a blending method to bring the two filter paths together so that the drawn look is merged with the painted look and VIOLA, you have the visual.

4. (optional), output the framerate to 24fps to get a more animated "feel".

Here is a link to the presets I've currently set up so you can import this into VirtualDub and have my same settings. Just make sure you have ffvdub filter installed and PCVideo Image Processor.

I dont have any need of this myself but am quite sure others will, twas really rather good.
Just take a little more care whilst hurling your son across the room, them there walls look quite hard.

No it's cool. I'm not one of those users who likes to cleverly find a way to interpret someone's post in a way to make them look stupid. There's already enough of those guys around, acting like they think you want Clairvoyants' responses. ;-) They usually don't end up being very helpful anyhow. Seem like they will chime in only for the purpose of increasing their post count when you notice they respond without actually being helpful.
