I quite like the high or very high settings with extra sharpness, not a fan of the low setting but hey it does run real time on low end integrated graphics.. Try doing that with NNEDI3. I wouldn't rule out Super-XBR from the game either. Last edited by ryrynz; 6th April 2017 at 00:37. |

Sorry for OT question.
Is it possible to install Nvidia driver only and then somehow disable those pesky features like adaptive contrast and video enhancements that are only configurable through Nvidia Control Panel? Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure installation of the control panel is integrated with installation of the driver itself. But I don't think adaptive contrast is on by default. Video enhancements are I suppose, you could get around that by disabling DXVA decoding if your CPU is good enough.

Only "Use inverse telecine" is on by default in the Nvidia drivers, everything defaults to "Use the video player setting".

cpu usage with 4k hdr
I tried running a few 4k hdr files. I have a Haswell 4 core cpu at 4.3ghz but it just maxes out the cpu and I get stutters. Is there any way to run this stuff or do I need a kaby lake. I use lav filters and use cuvid with the 4k box enabled but I don’t know if that helps with these files. is it couse my 1060gtx cant decode it?
Also, I have the default hdr settings but faces seem to be very red. Colors are off somehow with hdr it seems. I have a non hdr tv but shouldn’t madvr convert it?

GTX 1060 should be fine. Update LAV + madvr to latest versions and reset the settings. Set LAV Video to use DXVA2 (copy-back) and tick the "(UHD) 4K" and "HEVC" checkboxes. In madvr settings go "devices">[your display]>"hdr" and set display nits until it fits your screen. Video is HEVC, right? If it doesn't look right post a sample. Maybe the file is broken or something.

I am sure nobody cares about my ignorant FYI inputs as everyone thinks they are purely user-errors, but after I cleanly installed the new Windows 10 Pro x64 Creator's Update, I started seeing many dropped/repeated frames and glitches with settings that always produced none of those issues. This affected only Exclusive Fullscreen mode with ANY settings (including frame-ahead settings) in madVR during playback of normal 1080p 23.976p content on my 1080p HDTV at 23.970Hz for normal 23.976/24p content, but there were no frame drops/repeated or glitches on my 120Hz monitor in Exclusive Fullscreen mode! Window mode (or non-exclusive Fullscreen mode) was not affected.
On my TV at 23.970Hz it would always show "1 dropped/repeated frame every 5-30 seconds" regardless of madVR, ReClock (official or beta), LAV Filters (official or nightly) or MPC-HC x86 (official or nightly) settings. I mean I tried many MANY settings in madVR and ReClock and none did anything helpful, although I noticed that ReClock would always say it is using CINEMA 24p/24Hz adaptation for regular/normal 23.976p content and oddly it detected my 23.970Hz refresh rate as 24.000Hz for hardware display. I don't remember if that was the case before. I figured that maybe the issue is in refresh rates and I finally fixed this issue for Exclusive Fullscreen by removing 1080p23 entry from madVR as a possible refresh rate (even though my TV shows 23Hz, 24Hz, 29Hz, 30Hz, 59Hz, and 60Hz for possible refresh rates) and leaving 1080p24 at the lowest possible refresh rate to be used for 23p/24p content. Now it says "1 frame drop every 2-3 hours, even at very-high quality GPU-demanding settings). I don't know what this means, but if you suddenly find yourself in a similar situation, see if using 24.000Hz instead of 23.970Hz solves the issue. Also, NVidia just released new drivers (381.62) with official support for Creator's Update - so maybe something did change in Creator's Update that earlier NVidia drivers (378.92) did not support or worked-well with.

Hi to all. Finally Windows 10 Creators Update is out and the new nVidia Driver with WDDM 2.2 are out.
The new driver are 381.65. But with Kodi + madvr settings for passthrough the HDR metadata don't work. My tv Samsung KS8000 don't change into HDR mode. Maybe a new version of madvr can fix this? Thanks a lot Last edited by cyber201; 6th April 2017 at 23:28. |

Yeap and I tried with MPC-HC x64 too, but at 23Hz setting there is constant and consistent frame drop and glitching.
I just used DDU to cleanly get rid of old drivers and installed the new ones - the problem is still there, but I guess I do not mind it since 24.000Hz and 23.970Hz are so close and neither are 23.976Hz, so ReClock is necessary. With new drivers I also noticed that in some games, I can now only select 59.97Hz refresh rate instead of the usual 60Hz. I think its Creator's Update that messed something up...

HDR metadata pass-through is not supported yet.

If I turn it ON, all content show in HDR mode. Normal video, windows dekstop and all color are washed. But if I disable the HDR mode in windows, all content is show in normal mode. MADVR is always setup to passthrough HDR content to the display. The switch from HDR on and off is not automatically. |

This just enables HDR output mode, it does however not actually achieve metadata pass-through. madVR is not setup to do that yet.

What does MadVR do with the HDR metadata? I've tried playing back HDR content with the "passthrough option" and it looks really good when the display is in HDR mode, so if MadVR isn't passing it through, what conversion is taking place?

Using passthrough no conversion is taking place but it also doesn't send the metadata, madVR is simply discarding it/not sending it. You would need to manually configure your display to match the metadata, if possible.

Your TV probably uses some default metadata if none is send, which can look OK, but may not be perfect at all times.
