Announcing Zoom Player v7 final

It's been over a year since the release of version 6 and now version 7 is finally complete.

We've introduced a lot of new features, redesigned many interfaces for simplicity and intuitive use and many bugs were squashed to the roadside.

We hope you'll be proud of the end result and enjoy using Zoom Player just as much as we had designing it.

Click to Download

Change list from RC2:
Code:
  * Support for APE TAG embedded folder image (PNG and JPEG image formats
    are supported).

  * If a fullscreen navigation interface is visible, right-clicking it will
    show a "Close Navigator" option.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback - On Playlist Complete) allowing
you to play the next file in the directory with the same file extension.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / BluRay) allowing you to specify
when a detected BluRay playlist containing HD content of a specified
duration will be detected as the main movie over an SD (DVD quality)
    of longer duration.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / Video / Subtitles) allowing
you to specify the subtitle synchronization adjustment value used
    by the subtitle synchronization functions.

  * New Setting (Adv. Options / Interface / Control Bar), allowing you to
auto-hide the control bar after the specified number of seconds even
    when playback is paused.

  - Fixed a video stuttering issue when using certain video renderers
with Aero Desktop Composition enabled (Windows 7/Vista).

  - An "ACCESS VIOLATION 00000000 READ ADDRESS 00000000" error when using
the advanced playlist control has been fixed.

  - Using the previous chapter function with only one chapter would go to
the previous track rather than seeking to the first chapter.

  - When enabling "Close on Inactivity" for the fullscreen navigation
interfaces, Opening a navigation interface through the SendMessage
WinAPI command would have caused the dialog to time-out and close
    instantly.
Complete change list from v6

Does it concern multimonitors ? Because, with another application and EVR renderer, I have stuttering on my second monitor. If I disable Desktop composition for this app, I don't have stuttering anymore.

And another question: I always have been lost with all these versions ? Which one is free ? I guess I should use "Pro" since it's the one with less features, but it's not easy to understand for users...

Thanks for this nice application.

I've been playing with the Bluray playback feature (using the pre-final from Twitter).

It seems to work reasonably well, although I don't have a TrueHD disc on hand to test - from memory the Haali Splitter couldn't "see" True HD. For DTS-MA I get the core using ffdshow (we really need a DTS-MA decoder, but that's not easy).

Subtitles don't seem to work, but again, I don't think we have a working decoder for BD subtitles (or is there?). I have a late DirectVobSub installed, and it loads, but the subs don't work and I get an error if I pick a subtitle stream.

Hopefully the new Haali Splitter which is due this week will make it better (things like labled streams, TrueHD).

There doesn't seem to be any settings directly related to Bluray playback in Smart Play? Things like selecting splitters or source files for m2ts (or whatever is appropriate).

But thank you very much for this feature Blight. The MAX version is well worth the money. Bluray playback may not be perfect, but it's a good start.

I don't believe they offer a free version any more. I think the last time they had a free version was v5.

There is the free v5.5 beta I guess. But the version was abandoned and they have v6 instead. The v6 basic which supposed to be free was listed somewhere at some point in time, but never released. I have given up on it quite some time ago. With v7 finally released, it looks like this is officially the end of free version.

Hi Mark,
Since bluray titles are just mpeg2 transport streams, you can choose the splitters using the profiles specific to this format.

I believe the gabest mpeg2 splitter can handle TrueHD, but I couldn't get ffdshow to decode them... Haven't really spent too much time on it though, so it may be possible.

Once a true BluRay splitter comes out, one that's capable of taking parts of different files and play them seamlessly, we'll add support for that as well.

pirlouy:
no, it wasn't a multi-monitor issue. It was something specific to ZP, not other applications.
