oggenc file size limt ....

i found this very cusious.

I have a 2.1 gig WAVE file. I ran oggenc -q 0 on it and got back

Code:
ERROR: Cannot open input file "total.wav": File too large
This is on my PC running Mandrake 10.0

I logged into my serve, running Mandrake 9.2, and NFS mounted the directory this file is in. ran the same command on it and its happily encoding away....

Google search found nothing on file size limit for oggenc.

strange if you ask me.

Is it the exact same oggenc compile and filesystem? Both of these can have an effect.

Yeah i thought of perhaps a different version of oggenc, but file size would be something fixed way back in the earlier versions, wouldnt you think ??

Anyway, on my system, the one having trouble with file size i have

Code:
OggEnc v1.0.1 (libvorbis 1.0.1)
and on my server which didnt have any trouble at all i have

Code:
OggEnc v1.0 (libvorbis 1.0)
even stranger if you ask me

The server NFS mounted the directory the file in question was in, both systems are using Ext3 local file system.

Yes, but the compile-time options may have an effect on the file-size limit as well - for example mplayer has a --enable-largefiles option in its configure script. I've never compiled oggenc myself but I guess it might have something like this.

Well i didnt compile either so i cant say

I hope MDK 10.1 has oggenc binaries with this file size limit lifted, or otherwise i am gonna have to do some compiling of source code

WAVE files larger than 2 GB are automatically invalid
