First, tell us which program you are using.
AutoGK or genuine GK. Second, post some Log files. Third, post a Mediainfo log of the source file. Did you install a suspicious codec pack lately or some obscure audio drivers/codecs? |

What are you using to play the AVIs? I assume the same program plays all of your older AVIs fine?
In your example above it appears the original AC3 audio was used so there was no audio encoding involved, just video encoding, which would seem to point to the problem being a playback one, not an encoding one. If you're not, try using Media Player Classic-Home Cinema to play the newly created AVI, but first open it's options and under "Internal Filters", make sure everything is checked. That should ensure it uses it's own internal splitters and codecs which will hopefully eliminate a rouge codec on your PC. PS If you open a video file with MPC-HC and use the File/Properties menu, under the MediaInfo tab you'll find the same information MediaInfo would provide only without having to install MediaInfo as a separate program to obtain it. well because your reply doesnt help at all, because i have moved the AVI file to 3 different computers, so it cant be JUST a rogue codec on MY computer
it doesnt work on my desktop, laptop, a mac, or my xbox streaming. so it has to be something during the creation of the AVI or the ripping of the DVD |

As mentioned, there is nothing in the log about transcoding the audio so it must have just copied the audio to the new file. Since the file doesn't play with audio on any of your machines, either something went wrong in the muxing process or DVDFab didn't rip the audio properly. To help determine where things went wrong, open each file in MediaInfo and select View > Text to copy/paste here if you can't see yourself what the problem is. |

You didn't mention any of the above in your OP and the batteries in my crystal ball must have been flat when I asked the questions. I've been using AutoGK for years and years and even if it's just through a bit of trial and error I, and others, could probably have helped you find the cause of the problem, but we can't if you're deciding which questions are helping us to help you and which ones aren't. You've been asked for the info MediaInfo supplies for a problem AVI and given two ways to obtain it, yet still nothing. |

There's nothing in the MediaInfo info I can see which indicates the audio shouldn't play properly so I guess it's a little trial and error....
First thing I'd do (not that I really think it's anything to do with the problem, but you never know) is update the version of VirtualDubMod AutoGK installed (it's in the AutoGK installation folder) to the last VirtualDubMod release. You can simply copy and paste the new files over the top of the old ones. http://sourceforge.net/projects/virt...od%201.5.10.2/ AutoGK creates a temp folder in the same directory as the output file. In it you'll find the original AC3 audio (and any converted MP3 audio etc). Open the AC3 audio with a media player to confirm it plays correctly. Open it with MediaInfo to confirm the AC3 has the same properties on it's own as it does when inside the AVI. Try ripping the DVD with a different program. RipIt4Me is the one I use (you'll find it with Google and it requires DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to be installed). If it's not the ripping where it's going wrong, try forcing AutoGK to convert the AC3 to MP3 to see if it still has the same problem. You can probably run a few different encoding tests on just one of the vob files (copy it to a separate folder) rather than have to encode the whole movie. Running the test encodes using a default (75%) quality setting rather than picking a file size will also speed up the process. If none of the above finds the problem, another thing to try would be to manually remux the original audio into the AVI AutoGK creates and save it as a new file. If you're not familiar with how to do that, I can post instructions. |

@iamkeq
Maybe just post a sample of the vob and the final avi. DGSplit to cut a sample from the vob and for the avi use Virtualdub in Direct Stream modus. Cut at I frames. 5 -10 megabytes should be fairly enough. May I suggest Mediafire as file hoster? No more guessing, just the plain truth Bye |

May I suggest a nice clean install of Xvid or Helix or FFdshow VFW. If you use ffdshow make sure the VFW decoder is set up correctly. |

I've just encoded your sample to xvid.
Everything's just fine. The sound is loud and clear. All AC3 5/1 channels are running. Encoded to mp3 vbr 128kbs as the next step, and yes it's running too. I give up. There is something on your side totally burked. The best thing is: Download the whole package from Autogk Website. Deinstall AutoGk, deinstall Xvid, ffdshow and /or ac3filter and do a clean install with just the needed components. Good luck! |
