4k to blu-ray with BD Rebuilder

How to do with BD Rebuilder blu-ray format 1920x1080 (BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders) from .mkv (Matroska) (MPEG4 Video (H264) 3840x2160 23.976fps L5.1, yuv420p)?
You can also send me a link

Open bdrb > File > import > Video Files > All done

bdrb does the rest. Link? How about the BDRB topic's first post

I believe he is asking about HDR to SDR, and I don't think BD_RB does it yet, but I may be wrong.

I had pretty good results using Ripbot264 to down convert 2160 to 1080P, BUT the HDR10 made the colors wonky. I also think I've seen you can do it with Handbrake. You could just make a high bitrate blue ray and feed that to BD Rebuilder to compress.

Or he could do it with avisynth or vapoursynth and then input the result to BD_RD

Wow! Gonca turned me on to some new stuff I didn't know about, and it even has a GUI I think, cause I am decidedly stooped when it comes to scripts and filters. I might be old but I am still a script kiddie when it comes to code. Even copy and paste is really hard for me, lol.

Thank you. Do you know when to use option BD Rebuilder - File - Import - Video File (Side-By-Side 3D Source)? I understand this option is for 3D movie, but I don't know why "side-by-side" - what does it mean for converting?

HandBrake has an 8 bit pipeline internally, which probably means it can't do 10 bit HDR video properly

BD Rebuilder - File - Import - Video Files (MKV, MP4, AVI, TS, ...) I have an error.
.mkv (Matroska) Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 3840x2160 23.976fps [V: English [eng] (h264 high L5.1, yuv420p, 3840x2160) [default]]

Then it looks like BDRB doesnt support 4K mkv importing yet. UHD support in any shape or form is experimental at this time. As to your Side-by-side question? That's how the image is being shown. Just google it. There's 3 options. Side-by-side, over-under and frame-sequential

@blue8

You need to upgrade to the new version. You're using v0.50.5 (from four years ago) -- and UHD wasn't supported back then. You can get the latest version from the first post in this thread.

The current version does support importing UHD/4K.

@jdobbs
Can you try new tsmuxer (https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer) ?
Fixes:
Correct H265 Stream_Type
Get rid of MAX_AV_PACKET_SIZE limitation (probably fix HEVC lost frames)

Is there a binary anywhere that I can test?

From the new tsMuxer thread:

To download the pre-compiled binaries head over to the following URL (you must be logged in) https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer/actions and click on the latest action for your chosen platform (Windows, Mac or Linux). In the Artifacts section in the top-right you can download a ZIP file containing the executable for tsMuxer.

At the moment only the CLI is included, the GUI is not yet available.

All I get is an error code 404 if I click on that link.

Edit: Never mind. I had to create an account first... I got it downloaded. I'll do some testing tomorrow.

I tested various settings with new BD Rebuilder version 0.60.29. Before I installed Avisynth_260 and LAVFilters-0.65.
My Audio: AAC 48000Hz 6ch [A: aac lc, 48000 Hz, 5.1 [default]] is all the time converting to AC3 with all BD settings for Audio.

My biggest problem is with 4k converting to 1920x1080, because BD Rebuilder does still 3840x2160. I had Settings-Setup-Video Encoding Options-all cleared, later selected Resize - 1920x1080 to 1280x720.
What can I do in settings to convert from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080?
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 3840x2160 23.976fps [V: English [eng] (h264 high L5.1, yuv420p, 3840x2160) [default]]

[01:33:46] Importing MKV: LINDSEY_STIRLING_-_BRAVE_ENOUGH
- Preparing MKV for processing...
- Collecting audio/video streams from source...
- Converting audio, Track #2, AAC to AC3...
- Building pseudo-BD source structure...
[01:42:08] Video import completed successfully.

My settings:

1. The AAC is being converted to AC3 because AAC isn't a legal codec on Blu-Ray.

2. As I've said before, 2160p to 1080p conversion isn't supported yet. It's something I have on my to-do list. You can, however, convert to 1080p if you are outputting to ALTERNATE formats.
