My guess is that these are individualized files, but you got them under a previous IBX prior to the upgrade. Extraction of secondary keys could be problematic. Easiest workaround is to reget the licenses (most drastic solution - rename drmstore.hds in your DRM directory). Or, PM/Email me and you can help test support for secondary keys. For the VISTA error - that probably means that wmplayer.exe isn't where the program expects it to be found. What directory is wmplayer.exe in on a Vista system? What registry keys point to it? |

Thanks for the prompt reply.
the path for WMP under Vista (5536) is as follows: "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" Wasn't sure exactly what you'd need in regaurds to the registry, so I'm including the following branch that makes references to the WMP defaults for Play and Open associations. Reg file is here.

Stating the obvious.
Dear Team,
I recently reinstalled windowsxp on my machine to try out fairuse4wm. My windows media player is 10.00.00.3802 I HAVE individualized my system [indivbox.key is version 11.0.5497.6285] I have succesfully recovered three keys using the ezdrm.com sample files. Fairuse4wm seems to be working fine, however, when i try to unDRM some video files downloaded from the net ;-p i get the response. 0 files converted 0 errors X warnings [where x is the number of files] and the warnings are: "[Path of the video] does not appear to be licensed to you." This error is correct. They aren;t licensed to me...but isn;t that the point or FairUse4WM? Isn't it supposed to rid me of the nessescity of lisencing these things? |

@mcai8rw2
Your downloading of files and trying to unDRM them without them being licensed to you is a breach of rule 6. Please read the announcement at the top of this forum and the rules again. I do not expect your post will be replied to, given your circumstances. Regards

E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Discovery\01 To France.wma UNABLE TO DECRYPT: Error reading 5974 bytes (5882) at offset 4501181 in file "E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Discovery\01 To France.wma". guess I will have to wait till 1.3 Brumfondl |

It *appears* that this file is truncated, given how much the code is trying to read, and how much it gets. SInce the space at the end is typically indexing information, you can get by without having it. The parser tries to be cautious though. I can just ignore the format and write out what I can for these portions? Should I risk writing out a corrupt file, or give errors so they can be corrected? For a -fix version, I'll try a policy of " if I can't read a whole block, I'll just ignore the entire block". This should be the least likely to break something else. Comments? Should I just keep the failing behavior? Last edited by viodentia; 4th September 2006 at 07:45. |

I just tried 4 different files from 4 different directories. Results were:
E:\Legit Music\Massive Attack\Collected\04 Teardrop.wma UNABLE TO DECRYPT: Error reading 5976 bytes (5884) at offset 5336363 in file "E:\Legit Music\Massive Attack\Collected\04 Teardrop.wma". E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Discovery\01 To France.wma UNABLE TO DECRYPT: Error reading 5974 bytes (5882) at offset 4501181 in file "E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Discovery\01 To France.wma". E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Earth Moving\01 Holy.wma UNABLE TO DECRYPT: Error reading 5974 bytes (5882) at offset 4484983 in file "E:\Legit Music\Mike Oldfield\Earth Moving\01 Holy.wma". E:\Legit Music\Tall Dwarfs\Fifty Flavours Of Glue\01 Gluey_ Gluey.wma UNABLE TO DECRYPT: Error reading 5976 bytes (5884) at offset 2559477 in file "E:\Legit Music\Tall Dwarfs\Fifty Flavours Of Glue\01 Gluey_ Gluey.wma". Seems like a pattern Brumfondl |

I've only once had the problem and then it was when I accidentally tried to convert a file that was still downloading. (So like viodentia said, truncated file) Anyhow, nice work viodentia! This program has been a lifesaver. And 1.2 is working great with WMP11 beta 2. (I've been trying to avoid getting the updated IBX just in case, so I can't say how it works with that.) @josh2
You are new here, so I will direct you to the announcement at the top of this forum and rule 6. @all - I do not want to see discussion about downloaded media files in this thread. This thread is about a technical product. Please confine your discussions to that subject. Regards

Brumfondi, it does seem like you have a fairly consistent problem. Please PM me.
You can also try this version (not really an officlal release, just ignores these read failures) https://uploads.sgul.ac.uk/uploads/5134382/ver12fix.zip This may cause the files to stop working in other ways though Last edited by viodentia; 4th September 2006 at 19:21. |

My end-run for DRM'd audio is Total Recorder. So far it has worked with .WMA, iTunes and Audible, the only three formats I've been exposed to. It can convert at less than real time (8x on this laptop with Audible). I can also capture any audio stream with it, sometimes accelerated (WinAmp streams usually capture at twice normal speed). I set LAME to a VBR profile of 64-224 kbits and let it run. iTunes usually encode to about 160 kb, Audible to 80, internet streams up to 200, etc...Depends on the source.

Trouble is, it's a lossy conversion whenever you do anything like that. (Total Recorder, SoundTaxi, Tunebite, MuvAudio, etc) FairUse4WM is much faster than any of those (nearly instant.. mere seconds per album), and is completely lossless.
Yeah, they're decent programs but if you can get this to work (which for most situations is pretty painless) it's much better. If only there was a tool like this for iTunes 6.. (QTFairUse is OK, but way way to slow.) |

Sounds like this program isn't handling ASF files correctly, or perhaps some services didn't follow the ASF specification.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...ASFViewer.aspx Microsoft provides this tool to verify ASF compliance (both WMA and WMV should verify under this program). |
