Editing Subtitles

I have some anime videos that I wish to edit the subtitle. After learning that mkv is a type of container I was able to to extract the components: the video file, the sound file, and the subtitle file. I was able to edit the subtitle but I am stuck on how to put back the components together again. I would really appreciate if someone out there could guide me through this matter. Instructions, Apps, anything. Thank you and Kudos!
