XBMC Media Center Software

Version 9.04 boasts new features and improved performance

May 6, 2009 – The XBMC Media Center team has released version 9.04 (Babylon) of the popular XBMC Media Center software. This version of the application includes new features, such as the use of

additional online media information sources, support for new types of media such as music videos, a selection of new skins to customize the user interface and new plug-ins which provide access to online episodes of many television shows.

Milestone 9.04 also boasts improved stability, most notably on the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, as well as increased performance on all platforms. In addition, this update includes support for nVidia's PureVideoHD technology on Linux, allowing full high-definition playback on lower-cost energy-efficient hardware.

“We are excited to bring this updated version of XBMC to the public,” said Jonathan Marshall, one of the lead developers of the project. “Our team has put a strong focus on maintaining ease of use and reliability of the program, while adding new features for our users.”

To further the organization’s ongoing efforts to increase accessibility of XBMC for users around the world, this new version offers greatly-improved support for Asian languages, as well as for languages read right to left, such as Hebrew.
